Sam Winegrad has over 30 years of diverse experience in the oil and gas industry in the areas of land, marketing, and finance. His career has focused on building companies through a combination of exploration, exploitation and acquisitions, and selling those companies or their assets to larger, later-stage exploration and production companies. Cumulatively since 2001, Sam has co-led the formation, funding, building and sale of assets from three companies (the Meritage Companies), resulting in net return on equity in excess of $250 million on $30 million of invested equity.

Prior to MECO, Sam served as Vice President and played key roles for Basin Exploration, Inc. (NASDAQ: BSNX), General Atlantic Resources, Inc. (and it’s predecessor companies), and lastly at Tenneco Oil Company and Lear Petroleum.

Sam graduated Magna cum Laude from the University of Colorado with a BSBA in 1980. Sam is proud to be a Development Board Member of Colorado Uplift and serve on the Colorado Executive Committee and National Board of AIPAC.

Tom Corley has over 35 years of experience in the oil and gas industry in all phases of the business (acquisitions, exploration, and development). His career has exposed him to a broad range of operating environments: onshore and offshore, shallow and deep, oil and gas. Also, he has experience in a broad range of reservoir types including: thick porous sandstones of the gulf coast, tight sands and carbonates, CBM, and oil and gas shales. Over his career, Tom has employed a broad range of technologies to drill, complete, produce, and exploit these reservoirs.

Including his co-founding of Meritage Energy Partners, LLC in 2001, Tom has co-led the formation, funding, building and sale of assets from three companies, resulting in net return on equity in excess of $250 million on $30 million of invested equity.

Prior to MECO, Tom served as Vice President and played key roles for Basin Exploration, Inc. (NASDAQ: BSNX) and St. Mary’s Land and Exploration (NYSE: SM), and lastly as Director of Acquisitions at General Atlantic Resources, Inc. (and its predecessor companies).

Tom graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree from the Colorado School of Mines in 1983. Tom and his wife, Lisa, are proud supporters of A Precious Child (Board of Trustee’s), Children’s Diabetes Foundation, the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, and Warren Village.

Craig has been with MECO IV, LLC and prior Meritage companies since 2007 and has more than 25 years of experience in finance and accounting in the oil and gas industry.  Prior to joining Meritage, Craig served as Assistant Vice President of Finance from 2000-2005 and as a Financial Analyst from 1993-2000 for Patina Oil & Gas Corporation and predecessor companies.  He began his career with public accounting firm KPMG after earning his BSBA in Accounting from the University of Colorado.

After earning an undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering and a graduate degree in Petroleum Engineering, Andrew has been working in multiple oil and gas engineering disciplines including production, operations, completions, reservoir, and acquisitions and divestitures.  Prior to joining MECO IV, Andrew worked for GMT Exploration and Cascade Petroleum—both of which were private exploration and production companies engaged in the discovery and development of conventional and unconventional resources.  Andrew is a Certified Professional Petroleum Engineer, has been published in SPE and The World Oil Magazine, and is a member of SPE and AAPG.

Sarah joined the MECO IV team in April 2014 after working for Sundance Energy in 2013 as a Senior Reservoir Engineering Analyst.  She worked for Samson Resources Company for the 17 years prior to joining Sundance and held various roles in their financial reporting and engineering departments.  Sarah has a vast realm of experience in Reserves and Economics and has been functioning as a liaison between the operations and accounting/finance teams for the last ten years.  Sarah earned her BS in Mathematics and her MBA from Oklahoma State University, has a BBA in Accounting from Langston University, and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Karen has been with MECO IV, LLC and prior Meritage companies since 2003 and has more than 20 years of industry experience. Prior to joining the Meritage Companies, Karen worked for several small oil and gas independents.  She returned to the industry in 1997 after working in commercial real estate for seven years.

Jason joined MECO IV, LLC in August 2017 and brings regional experience across numerous U.S. basins to our team.  He previously worked as a Senior Geologist and Business Unit Leader for Emerging and Developed Properties at Koch Exploration, LLC.  Prior to that, he worked at Devon Energy within multiple business units as well as spending 2 years with Corporate New Ventures – Exploration and Production Strategic Services.  Jason is highly experienced in exploration, petrophysical evaluation in unconventional reservoirs, as well as clastic and carbonate reservoirs.  Jason graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Geology (2005) and a Master’s of Science degree in Geology with a focus on Structural Geology (2008) from West Virginia University.

Jennifer joined MECO in July, 2017.  She brings with her 19 years of land experience in various roles within the Oil and Gas industry including landman, division order, in-house and broker experience.  Jennifer earned her Bachelor degree in Business from Boise State University and her Master’s degree in Business (MBA) from Colorado State University.  She is a Certified Professional Landman (CPL), a Certified Division Order Analyst (CDOA) and a member of AAPL, DAPL, NADOA, DADOA, NALTA and DALTA.

Dan joined the MECO IV team in January of 2020 after working at QEP. Prior to MECO IV Dan worked as the Operations Manager for the QEP’s Permian asset which included various compressor stations, an oil terminal, large SWD infrastructure, water recycling facility and several tankless central processing facilities. He had worked for Questar/ QEP for 12 years in various disciplines including Drilling, Completions and Operations/ Production. Dan earned his BS in Petroleum Engineering from Montana Tech.
